Do you watch television programs that are courtroom dramas, real or fictionalized? Do you see yourself arguing a case convincingly before a jury? Can you imagine yourself defending someone who’s been accused or prosecuting someone who’s committed a horrible crime against someone else?
If any of these apply to you, you might want to consider law school. But it isn’t just a desire to be a lawyer that counts. You must have the academic background and intelligence to get into law school after you have your college degree.
Working in the justice system is a worthwhile career path because it ensures that in our society we have recourse whether we’re victims or the accused. However, a future lawyer who comes from the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, or Australia must take the LSAT test that’s administered by the LSAC (Law School Admissions Council).
The test is given four times per year by the Law School Admissions Council (LSAC). It can be taken in June, September, December and February. It should last three and a half hours and is comprised of six sections. You must score four out of five. But don’t be discouraged. It is possible to take the test more than once if you fail the first time or if you want to improve your score.
The LSAT test has three types of problems: analytical, reasoning and logic/arguments. There is also a reading comprehension section. It can be daunting but there are ways to make sure you are ready.
So set aside some study time and prepare well for the LSAT test. Don’t worry about failing the first time. A lot of people do and then they just study harder and retake the test. Don’t let anxiety get to you. If you’ve gotten good grades in college and enjoy using your mind in an analytical way to do puzzles and such, your desire to be a lawyer should work out in the long run.
Study Guides primarily written to help you to understand the subject matter are among the most useful things for successfully navigating the LSAT test. They are usually contain practice tests and various other materials which will get you accustomed to the way in which the test is going to be given. Everyone should acquire a study guide as this is going to improve your likelihood of passing the exam.
